African swine fever detected in Kohima District: Infected and surveillance zones declared

Kohima, 17 April (MTNews): The Deputy Commissioner of Kohima has announced the detection of African Swine Fever (ASF) in the district, leading to the declaration of specific areas as Infected and Surveillance Zones to contain the spread of the disease.

According to the Deputy Commissioner, in Kidima village, the area extending up to a one-kilometer radius from the infected premises has been identified as the Infected Zone. Additionally, areas falling within a 10-kilometer radius from the Infected Zone have been designated as the Surveillance Zone.

To prevent further spread of the disease, the Deputy Commissioner has imposed a ban on several activities within the Infected and Surveillance Zones. These include the slaughter of pigs, import and export of pigs, and transportation of pigs and pork products.

The public have been advised to adhere strictly to the guidelines and restrictions imposed by the authorities to curb the spread of African Swine Fever in the district.
