At the meeting convened by Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung, Thsuvisie Phoji, at his residence on February 4 (Sunday) to take stock of the MMC fire incident, Lanutoshi Aier, President of AKM, suggested crowd-funding aid, for which DC Mokokchung gave his approval.

The first floor of the MMC Complex that was completely razed down in the February 3 fire accident.

Stating that Nagas always contribute during jubilations and celebrations, Aier suggested that the same can be done during a tragedy where 62 entrepreneurs are facing devastation. He also noted that since most of them had sought loans from financial institutions like NEDFI and MSME, Aier appealed to the administration to request a grace period on the loans for those victims.

He further suggested that MMC cut rent for those affected or waive off the rent until their shops are operational again. Meanwhile, he appealed for equal compensation in the same manner as was provided in other districts of Nagaland.

The DC suggested that AKM take charge of the crowd-funding initiative, and regarding compensation, he clarified that a proper assessment of the damage needs to be done before submitting the report to the government.
