The handing and taking over program of the Ao Kaketshir Mungdang (AKM) was held today, February 21, at the AKM Conference Hall, with former president Lanutoshi Aier formally handing over responsibilities to the new president Lanulemba Longchar.
The newly elected AKM team will serve for the tenure 2026–2029.
In his incoming presidential address, Longchar, who previously served as an executive member and Education Secretary of AKM, said it was time for the organisation to “live like an organisation that is 97 or 98 years old,” stressing the need for maturity and institutional discipline befitting its long history.
Outgoing president Aier, in his address, acknowledged the visionary senior leaders for ensuring that the recent AKM conference, unlike many others, was conducted with relative ease, without burdening the incumbent team with the task of sourcing funds.
He also admitted that not everything he had set out to accomplish during his tenure was completed, noting that his team often faced various obstacles along the way.
The appointment orders were signed by members of the executive council and the new AKM team during the programme. The ceremony was conducted by former president Aodangnok Ozükum.
