The All Ward Union Mokokchung Town (AWUMT) has extended its full support to the seven-day ultimatum issued by the Ao Kaketshir Mungdang (AKM) to the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Government of Nagaland, Kohima. The ultimatum, served on March 6, 2025, calls for urgent action to address the acute shortage of medical personnel at Dr. Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital (IMDH), Mokokchung.

In a statement issued by AWUMT President Lemasashi and Assistant Secretary Imlinungsang, the organization urged the concerned authorities to promptly address the issues raised by AKM and take immediate corrective measures.

It may be recalled that AKM has placed four key demands before the department: the immediate appointment of a second anesthetist, the deployment of at least one more gynecologist, strict adherence to IPHS guidelines in staffing IMDH, and the immediate replacement of the outgoing doctor from TB Hospital to IMDH.

The AKM stated that despite multiple appeals to the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Nagaland, the manpower crisis at IMDH remains unaddressed.

Warning of stronger measures, including mass agitation if their demands are not met within seven days, AKM asserted that the neglect of IMDH’s staffing crisis is depriving the public of essential healthcare services.

Furthermore, AWUMT also highlighted the prolonged delay in the completion of IMDH’s construction, stressing that the matter requires urgent intervention. The union emphasized that the delay is severely impacting healthcare services in Mokokchung and called for expedited efforts to ensure its timely completion.
