Baptist College Kohima held its 44th Fresher’s Day on June 30 at Ura Academy Hall, Kohima, under the theme, “New Beginning, Endless Possibilities.”

Addressing the programme as guest speaker, Kohima Deputy Commissioner B. Henok Buchem said the occasion marked the beginning of a new chapter filled with hope and possibilities.

“Every beginning has two companions: uncertainty and possibility,” he said, adding that college is a place where values are tested, talents are refined and dreams begin to take shape.

Stressing that education goes beyond textbooks and degrees, Buchem said, “It shapes not only what you know, but also who you become.”

He urged students to think critically, communicate effectively and apply knowledge ethically and compassionately. Describing character as one’s greatest qualification, he said, “Degrees may open doors, but your character sustains how long those doors remain open.”

The programme was chaired by Tabitha K. Assumi, Assistant Professor, Department of History, and the vote of thanks was proposed by Sezono Temi, General Secretary of the Student Council.
