Addressing the gathering, Jacob Zhimomi, Nagaland Minister for PHED & Cooperation, highlighted how Swachh Bharat Mission has evolved into a national movement, instilling civic responsibility among the citizens of the country. He emphasized that as a developed society, we must take responsibility for the waste we generate. Zhimomi stated that the government has issued a resounding call to all states and citizens to collectively work towards achieving a cleaner nation. He noted that towns and villages nationwide are diligently striving to elevate this movement to the next level.

Zhimomi underlined the significance of maintaining clean surroundings and practicing safe sanitation as integral components of human development. He asserted that without these basic requirements, true development remains elusive.

During the event, the Minister also presented awards to the best-performing villages under Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen), recognizing 16 villages from various districts, and acknowledged the best-performing districts under JJM, which included Wokha, Tuensang, Kohima Rural, Tseminyu district, Mon, Dimapur Rural, Niuland district, and Mokokchung, under different categories.
