BJP Nagaland condemns alleged assault on party candidate during Tsumang B by-election

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Nagaland has strongly condemned the reported incident of intimidation and physical assault involving its party candidate, Mhomo Humtsoe, during the ongoing Ward-8 Tsumang B by-election process in Wokha on June 16, 2026.

In a press release issued by the party’s Media Cell, BJP Nagaland said the incident has “no place in a healthy democracy,” adding that elections must remain free, fair and peaceful, guided by democratic values rather than fear or intimidation.

The party expressed gratitude to the district administration and police authorities for their swift response in apprehending the accused and for imposing Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) to maintain law and order and prevent further disturbances.

It also urged the authorities to initiate stringent action against the culprit involved in the incident.

Appealing to all political parties, supporters and citizens, BJP Nagaland called for peace, restraint and respect for the democratic process during the ongoing by-election.

The party reiterated its commitment to peaceful participation in the electoral process, stating that the will of the people should prevail through a fair and transparent election.
