Dimapur, February 9 (MTNews): The All India Congress Committee (AICC) media coordinator, Sujata Paul, slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party for failing to object to the RSS-backed Janajati Dharma- Sanskriti Suraksha Manch’s (JDSSM) demand to delist Christian tribals from ST status at a press conference in Dimapur today.

She also referred to the Chief Minister as a “weak Chief Minister” for failing to speak out against the demand to delist Christian tribals from ST status.

She also claimed that the true face of the BJP-NDPP is to attack tribals and Christians, and that Himanta Biswa Sarma, who appears to be a friend of the Nagas, has done nothing to address those demands.

The Congress Party also accused the BJP of using the NDPP to enter Nagaland with the intention of removing the state’s special status (Article 371A) and implementing the Uniform Civil Code.
“The Bharatiya Janata Party clearly intends to weaken and wipe out the NDPP,” Paul claimed. She compared it to how the BJP formed a government in Jammu and Kashmir in collaboration with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and removed the state’s special status.

“They have piggybacked on the NDPP and crept in,” the Congress said.

The party also stated that the BJP intends to implement the Uniform Civil Code in Nagaland, which will be impossible if the special status is maintained.
