Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung Ajit Kumar Verma, IAS, has constituted a Board of Administrators to manage and administer the Principal Market Yard in the district.
The board has been constituted in accordance with the Nagaland Agricultural Produce and Livestock Marketing Act, 2020, and will function until a permanent Market Committee takes over.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung, has been appointed Convenor/Chief Administrator, while District Agriculture Officer Dr Lanunochetla will serve as Co-convenor.
The board includes the Chairman of APMC Mokokchung, District Horticulture Officer, Chief Veterinary Officer, District Fishery Officer, Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Societies and other members representing relevant departments and stakeholders.
The Board of Administrators has been entrusted with exercising the powers and performing the duties vested in the First Market Committee under the Act. It will also oversee the proper management and administration of the Principal Market Yard and regulate marketing activities within the delineated market area.
Among other responsibilities, the board will maintain the records, accounts and assets of the Market Committee and recommend measures for strengthening agricultural marketing infrastructure.
The board will function under the overall supervision and control of the ADC (HO), Mokokchung, and submit progress reports to the Deputy Commissioner on a monthly or quarterly basis for review.
