Centre releases Rs 1.73 lakh crore tax devolution to States; Nagaland receives Rs 984.54 crore

The Union Government has released Rs 1,73,030 crore in tax devolution to state governments for January 2025, a significant increase from Rs 89,086 crore released in December 2024. The enhanced devolution aims to help states accelerate capital spending and finance their development and welfare-related expenditures.

The distribution for January 2025 is as follows: Uttar Pradesh has received the highest allocation of Rs 31,039.84 crore, followed by Bihar with Rs 17,403.36 crore, and Maharashtra with Rs 10,930.31 crore. Madhya Pradesh has been allotted Rs 13,582.86 crore, West Bengal Rs 13,017.06 crore, and Andhra Pradesh Rs 7,002.52 crore.

Other significant allocations include Rs 7,057.89 crore for Tamil Nadu, Rs 5,895.13 crore for Chhattisgarh, Rs 5,722.10 crore for Jharkhand, Rs 5,412.38 crore for Assam, Rs 5,057.89 crore for Gujarat, Rs 3,637.09 crore for Telangana, and Rs 3,126.65 crore for Punjab.

States like Kerala, with Rs 3,330.83 crore, and Karnataka, with Rs 6,310.40 crore, also received substantial funds. Other notable amounts include Rs 3,040.14 crore for Arunachal Pradesh, Rs 1,891.22 crore for Haryana, Rs 1,738.86 crore for Rajasthan, and Rs 1,934.47 crore for Uttarakhand.

Smaller allocations were made to states such as Manipur, which received Rs 1,238.90 crore, Meghalaya with Rs 1,327.13 crore, and Tripura with Rs 1,225.04 crore. Additionally, Nagaland received Rs 984.54 crore, Mizoram was allotted Rs 865.15 crore, and Sikkim received Rs 671.35 crore.
