Deputy Commissioner of Kiphire has constituted a 17-member District Level Anti-Ragging Monitoring Committee with immediate effect to monitor and strengthen anti-ragging measures in higher educational institutions across the district.
The Deputy Commissioner will chair the committee, while the District Education Officer, Kiphire, will serve as the Member Secretary.
Other members include the Superintendent of Police, Kiphire; Chief Judicial Magistrate, Kiphire; Additional Deputy Commissioners of Kiphire, Pungro and Seyochung; Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil), Kiphire; Extra Assistant Commissioners of Amahator, Longmatra, Sitimi, Khongsa and Kiusam; Chief Medical Officer, Kiphire; Principal of Zisaji Presidency College, Kiphire; District Welfare Officer and District Social Welfare Officer, Kiphire; District Child Protection Officer; Senior SDEO, Kiphire; District Public Relations Officer; Centre Administrator of SAKHI OSC Kiphire; District Mission Coordinator, Mission Shakti/DHEW, Kiphire; an official representative from the Higher and Technical Education Department, if any; and one representative each from private and government educational institutions to be nominated by the chairman.
According to the notification, the committee will monitor and review the implementation of anti-ragging measures in all higher educational institutions in accordance with the guidelines of the University Grants Commission and the Government of Nagaland.
The committee will ensure that all higher educational institutions constitute internal anti-ragging committees, squads and monitoring mechanisms. It will also review institutional preparedness in areas such as awareness, complaint redressal, counselling, monitoring and disciplinary protocols, besides facilitating coordination among the district administration, police, educational institutions and other agencies for the prevention and prompt handling of ragging incidents.
The committee will also oversee awareness and sensitisation programmes and obtain periodic reports from heads of institutions before submitting action taken and compliance reports to the government through the appropriate channel.
