A team from Dimapur 24/7 visited the fire-affected site in Naga Gaon, where a devastating fire broke out on Wednesday, February 26, leaving 40 families homeless and affecting approximately 200 individuals. The fire had engulfed 40 houses, with reports indicating that 80% of those affected were local Naga residents, while the rest were non-Naga individuals.

As part of the relief efforts, essential supplies, including five bags of rice (50 kg each, totaling 250 kg), one bag of onions (50 kg), and one bag of potatoes (50 kg), were provided to the affected families, according to an update received here. These relief materials were deposited at the Naga Gaon Council Hall and officially handed over to the Gaonbura and the Council President of Naga Gaon Colony in the presence of council members.

Under the leadership of Annie Jain, the chairperson of Dimapur 24/7, the team expressed solidarity and condolences to the affected families. Additionally, it has been noted that churches, NGOs, and individual contributors have stepped forward to assist those impacted by the fire. However, as of now, no relief has been provided by the government administration.

“Dimapur 24/7, through both its media and NGO wing, remains committed to highlighting the needs of the affected families and urges further assistance from relevant authorities and the broader community to support their rehabilitation and recovery,” the update from Dimapur 24/7 stated.
