Mokokchung, 14 April (MTNews): Further strengthening its resolve to abstain from participating in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the Eastern Nagaland Public Emergency Control Room, Tuensang issued a general advisory on Sunday, 14 April, reaffirming its decision.

The advisory stated that in the event of any confrontation occurring at any polling station leading to law and order situation in Eastern Nagaland, the sole responsibility will be attributed to the concerned citizen of that particular village or town. The advisory further cautioned, “Ultimately, the Eastern Nagaland people will engrave a permanent testament of BETRAYAL in its history with an indelible letter imprinted for ages to come.”

The advisory was jointly issued by the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organization (ENPO), seven apex tribal bodies, the Eastern Nagaland Women’s Organization (ENWO), and the Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF).

While extending appreciation to all the citizens of Eastern Nagaland for their cooperation on the ongoing Eastern Nagaland Public Emergency, which was declared on 5 March 2024, it was also assured that the ENPO, tribal bodies, ENWO and ENSF would ensure that any citizen of Eastern Nagaland including the elected members and government servants facing repercussions for abiding by the Eastern Nagaland public decision through voluntary abstention from voting “would stand protected” by the Eastern Nagaland public.

Stating that the Eastern Nagaland Public Emergency declaration has proven effective so far, and in order to “ensure the existing peaceful environment until the polling day,” the organizations advised the “Eastern Nagaland citizens or outsiders to refrain from disrupting the ongoing peaceful Public Emergency in order to avoid any awkward situation that is anticipated considering the magnanimity of the agitated public.” All the elected members and political party leaders were particularly requested to take heed of the said advisory.

Further, it was informed that there will be checking of all vehicles, including Police vehicles, “entering Eastern Nagaland jurisdiction with liquor and other intoxicant substances.” In this regard, it was informed that ENWO has been entrusted to oversee the implementation of this directive.
