The Government of the People’s Republic of Nagaland/National Socialist Council of Nagaland (GPRN/NSCN) has issued a statement rejecting a directive served to their Union Territory (UT) Chairman. The statement, released by the GPRN/NSCN’s Ministry of Information and Publicity (MIP), declared the organization’s commitment to eliminating imposters and issued a stern warning to those collecting taxes under the pretense of ‘Unification’.

According to the statement, the GPRN/NSCN initiated an investigation through UT Chairman Hekiye Zhimomi, targeting individuals involved in unauthorized tax collection under the guise of ‘Unification’. During this investigation, one Tovishe Shohe visited Zhimomi’s residence on June 14, 2024, delivering an order allegedly from the ‘Unification’ government. This order demanded Zhimomi to justify his actions within two days.

“Therefore, GPRN/NSCN completely rejects the directive served to the UT Chairman and clarified that it will continue to root out imposters and further warned, henceforth, of severe consequences to those collecting tax in the name of Unification,” it said.

The GPRN/NSCN highlighted that following the change of leadership on 21 April, 2024, “the GPRN/NSCN, as a mature Government, has handled the situations responsibly despite several provocations so as not to upset the peace and tranquility of the Naga Homeland”.

It emphasized that the GPRN/NSCN, being the people’s government, has remained silent thus far in compliance with the Western Sumi Hoho (WSH) resolution which was widely published in print and electronic media on 6 June, 2024.

“Nonetheless, the impeached and expelled imposters have taken advantage of our silence, but there is a limit to how much we can tolerate,” it added.
