A two-day educational and career-oriented event titled “EduConnect: Connecting Education to Opportunities” began at IBHIC, Dimapur, on Thursday, bringing together educational institutions, industry experts, policymakers, and students under one platform.
Organised to strengthen linkages between education, skill development, and employment opportunities for Nagaland youth, the programme featured addresses by government officials, educators, and industry representatives.
Chairman of IDAN and Advisor to the Chief Minister, Abu Metha, described the initiative as a significant platform for creating academic and professional opportunities for students. Stressing the importance of technology and education, he said, “Knowledge is power,” and encouraged students to equip themselves with modern technological skills.
“The uneducated of today are not those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot use modern technology,” he remarked, while urging students to adapt to the rapidly changing digital world.
Metha also cautioned students against spreading misinformation on social media and encouraged them to use digital platforms responsibly. Speaking on careers, he said success is no longer confined to traditional professions and noted that there are now hundreds of career opportunities available for young people.
Additional Secretary, Finance Department and IDAN, Vineet Kumar, IAS, said EduConnect 2026 aims to create a “window of opportunities” for students by exposing them to educational and career pathways across the country. He informed that the programme was livestreamed across all 16 districts of Nagaland through Deputy Commissioners’ offices.
Founder of Cryptex Solo, Akash Baishya, said Nagaland possesses immense talent and potential in sectors such as media, technology, hospitality, fashion, and academics. Anil R, Manager of International Admission at Atria Institute of Technology, stressed the importance of aligning career choices with emerging job opportunities and personal passion.
A key highlight of the programme was the exchange of a Memorandum of Understanding between Atria Institute of Technology and IDAN for academic cooperation, skill development, and student engagement initiatives under the Atria-IT Scholarship Programme.
The event also featured technical sessions on filmmaking, hospitality, studying abroad, education loans, social work, and career planning.
