Mokokchung, 21 February (MTNews): Jubilee Memorial College celebrated International Mother Language Day on 21st February at the college campus. Dr Kilangnaro, Assistant Professor in the Department of Environmental Studies, shared thoughts on the preservation of native dialects and understanding our roots because it allows us to understand who we are.

She said, “Losing our native language is not just losing a language but also losing a connection with our culture, family, and identity. In current Naga society, there are many who cannot speak their mother tongue.”

She emphasized the preservation of languages, which should begin at home, adding that parents have a big role to play.
