The ongoing ‘chakka bandh’ called by the Commercial Vehicle Owners Association since November 3 has brought all commercial transportation to a standstill in the affected districts. Seen here are a dozen cows bound for Kohima stranded in Mokokchung. The cows were being transported from Tizit in Mon district to the state capital, Kohima. The driver transporting the cows confirmed that his truck was seized by the protesters on November 4. The cows, along with the truck, have been kept at the Imkongmeren Sports Complex premises in Mokokchung for the past four days. It was learned that the transporter was taking the Tizit to Kohima route via Mokokchung because it is illegal to transport cows in Assam. It was also learned that the cows were brought from Arunachal Pradesh to Tizit, from where they were being transported to Kohima and elsewhere.

Furthermore, around thirty vehicles, including commercial trucks and taxis, were also seen parked at the same location, having been seized by the protesters for violating their chakka bandh.
