Nagaland Advisor for CAWD and Taxes, Kudecho Khamo, on Saturday emphasised the importance of truthfulness, values and integrity in both society and the church, asserting that retrospection and introspection are essential for coexisting as an upright community.
He was addressing the 44th General Session of the Chakhesang Public Organisation (CPO) held at Town Hall, Phek, as the speaker.
Appreciating the pioneers and leaders of the Chakhesang tribe, Khamo acknowledged their role in shaping the community and stressed the need to uphold cultural values, identity and traditions. He urged the people to stand by resolutions adopted by the CPO in the larger community interest, including the prohibition on pig and pork consumption and the preservation of flora and fauna.
Khamo said the Chakhesang community should build its foundation on God, followed by honesty and integrity, which he described as priceless values that must guide both personal and professional life. Highlighting unity as a source of strength, he called upon the people to collectively fight social evils, expressing concern over substance abuse and other negative influences.
He also advocated optimal utilisation of government-aided funds and called for initiatives such as “One Family, One Project,” “One Family, One Entrepreneur,” and “One Family, One Prayer Time.” He further urged continued efforts to preserve cultural identity while upholding Christian values.
Earlier, CPO president Vezuhu Keyho delivered the presidential address, while speeches were also delivered by K. Puro, convenor of the CPO Constitution Amendment Committee, and Dr. Zavei Hiese, convenor of the Chakhesang Attire Regulatory Board. The session adopted several resolutions, including declaring 2026 as the “Year of Unity and Relationship Building among the Chakhesang Community” and promoting a “One Family–One Project” initiative in agriculture. The CPO also reaffirmed its ban on the import of pigs into Phek district, with specific regulatory conditions.
The programme featured cultural performances and concluded with a vote of thanks by Satahi Shujoh, Finance Secretary, CPO. On the occasion, Khamo also released the book Regulations on the Usage of Chakhesang Attires and Ornaments Part I.
