Longleng is expected to receive the highest cumulative rainfall in Nagaland over the next four days, with the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) forecasting 81.15 mm between August 18 and 21.

Mokokchung is next with 59.85 mm, followed by Peren at 51.72 mm, Tuensang at 50.67 mm, Mon at 47.26 mm, Wokha at 46.78 mm and Tseminyu at 43.98 mm, according to the NSDMA’s district-wise weather outlook.

The authority said monsoon conditions are expected to remain generally active across the State during the period, with light to moderate rainfall at a few to scattered places and localised thunderstorms and lightning likely in several districts.

On August 18, rainfall is likely at a few places in Longleng and Phek, while thunderstorms and lightning are expected in Dimapur and Peren. Similar activity is forecast in several districts over the following days, including Mokokchung, Mon, Tuensang, Zunheboto and Wokha.

The NSDMA warned that thunderstorms could be accompanied by lightning and brief gusty winds, while rainfall may lead to localised waterlogging, slippery roads and reduced visibility.

People living in landslide-prone and other vulnerable areas have been advised to remain vigilant, particularly where rainfall has been recurring. Motorists have also been advised to exercise caution along vulnerable and landslide-prone stretches.
