Mokokchung, 25 November (MTNews): The closing ceremony of the East Zone Inter University Badminton (Women) took place on 24 November 2023 at Nagaland University Headquarters Lumami.

Dr Harish K Tiwari, Deputy Director of Sports, announced the selection of four universities – Veer Bahadur Purvanchal University, Adamas University, Rajiv Gandhi University, and BBAU – to compete in the upcoming Inter Zonal Badminton (Women) Competition.

The event recognized outstanding talent, with Sunepbenla from Nagaland University’s team awarded the title of Most Promising Player. Amolika Singh from V.B.S. Purvanchal University, Jaunpur, U.P., secured the esteemed title of Best Player of the Tournament.

The occasion was graced by Prof. Jagadish Kumar Patnaik, Vice Chancellor, NU as the chief guest, alongside the presence of Registrar Dr Abemo, FO Mr N Albert Khizho, coaches and managers from various participating teams. The event drew an enthusiastic audience, including faculties, officials, students, and research scholars who came together to celebrate the spirit of sportsmanship.

Acknowledgement was extended to the dedicated sports coaches, namely Mr Somnath, Mr Watimenba, and Mr Amritpal Singh, and other staffs of Sports Section whose unwavering commitment ensured the successful execution of the program.
