Meluri District Teachers’ Award 2026 presented to two teachers

The Office of the Sub-Divisional Education Officer (SDEO), Meluri, organised the Meluri District Teachers’ Award 2026 ceremony at the EBRC Hall on Saturday, marking the second Teachers’ Day celebration since Meluri attained full-fledged district status.

Addressing the gathering, Deputy Director, Department of School Education, and SDEO (Additional Charge), Meluri, Kaitunchap Newmai, paid tribute to Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan and acknowledged the contribution of more than 330 teachers serving 1,378 children across government primary, middle and high schools in the district.

Newmai said two teachers were recommended for the District Teachers’ Award 2026, while no recommendation was made for the State Teachers’ Award.

Highlighting NIPUN Nagaland, he called for stronger efforts towards foundational literacy and numeracy, stating, “No child in Meluri will be left without FLN and no child will drop out.”

The awards were presented by Rhoshutho, Primary Teacher, GMS Meluri Town and State Awardee 2025.

Thozuvi Kajiri, Primary Teacher, GPS Akhegwo, and Kusi M. Yitsuthu, Head Teacher, GMS Zhipu, received the district awards for their contributions to education. Both were presented citations and token cash awards and described teaching as a “sacred responsibility”.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Thsuchuvi Nyusou, ToT, EBRC Meluri, followed by group photography and a luncheon.
