Amid the ongoing controversy surrounding the Free Movement Regime (FMR), Nagaland Minister of Tourism, Temjen Imna Along, addressed the press today, assuring that proper consultations would be conducted regarding the abolition of the FMR, as indicated by NEDA chairman and Assam Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, and Nagaland’s Deputy Chief Minister, Patton.

Minister Along expressed confidence in the wisdom of central leaders, stating that they are “wise enough” to understand the geographical demarcation. He emphasized that consultations with regional leaders would play a pivotal role in the decision-making process.

“It will not be a problem,” Minister Along reassured regarding the abolition of the FMR. “Knowing the geographical and the traditional aspect of cultural boundaries which are there internationally, our leaders in Delhi and the wisdom of the Ministers in the region will always come together, and it will be solved,” he added.

The statement comes in response to the recent decision by the Government of India to abolish the time-honored Free Movement Regime, sparking concerns and discussions within the region.
