The Mokokchung Municipal Council (MMC) has issued an official directive addressing the increasing number of stray dogs and pet dogs roaming loose in public areas within Mokokchung town. This comes following reports of such incidents causing harm to the public and creating unnecessary inconveniences.
In an order signed by Chumlamo Humtsoe, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) and Chief Executive Officer of the MMC, all dog owners have been reminded to strictly adhere to the Mokokchung Municipal Council Dog Registration and Proper Control of Dogs Rules and Regulations, 2017.
The MMC stated in the order that any dog found running loose in public places or in the streets shall be viewed seriously and appropriate action shall be taken.
The MMC has further stated that no complaints from dog owners regarding the enforcement of this order will be entertained.
“Any dog found running loose in public places or in the streets shall be viewed seriously and appropriate action shall be taken. No complaints shall be entertained from the owner on the action taken accordingly,” the order read.
