Modern Montessori Teachers Training Institute (MMTI), in collaboration with Beautiful Minds Centre for Child Development, successfully organized a comprehensive Teachers’ Orientation Workshop on invisible disabilities in school-going children in Kohima on Saturday, May 10.

The event brought together teachers from various preschools and students from the teachers’ training institute.

The workshop aimed to educate and sensitize teachers about the challenges faced by children with invisible disabilities, including Speech and Language Disorders, Hearing Loss, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Learning Difficulties, and more.

Henwasin Sweety Lorin, Senior Audiologist and Speech Language Pathologist, in her keynote address, emphasized that teachers’ roles in early intervention and diagnosis are crucial.

“By educating teachers about these disorders and the importance of early interventions, it is possible to provide better support to children with special needs and give them the best possible start in life,” she added.

The Beautiful Minds Centre for Child Development is committed to promoting awareness and understanding of invisible disabilities in children. To this end, the centre plans to continue organizing orientation sessions and workshops for parents and teachers in the future.
