Mokokchung, 21 May (MTNews): To commemorate the World Environment Day 2024, the Mokokchung Municipal Council (MMC) has directed all households, wards, institutions, commercial establishment, and market places within Mokokchung Municipal jurisdiction to segregate and store all plastic wastes separately for a period of two weeks beginning from 20 May 2024 and deposit it over to the MRF (Material Recovery Facility) located at Aongza ward on 1 June 2024.
In this regard, the MMC said that it will conduct an assessment on the types of plastic wastes collected and the quantity.
This is in pursuance to the letter received from the Additional Secretary & Mission Director, Swachh Bharat Mission Urban 2.0 Nagaland, Kohima, MMC informed.
Further, all the wards have been directed to conduct mass social work on plastic waste management targeting Single Use Plastics and Multi Layered Plastics (SUPs/ MLPs) like straws, food packages, chips packet, sweets and tobacco packets, disposable cutleries, carry bags and pet bottles etc. on 5 June 2024, World Environment Day.
