The Office of the District Civil Supply Officer, Food & Civil Supplies, Mokokchung, has issued a circular directing ineligible ration cardholders under the Priority Household (PHH) and Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) categories to surrender their cards by August 30, 2025. The directive is in line with an earlier Circular issued by the Department of Food & Civil Supplies, Government of Nagaland, on May 15, 2025, and in accordance with the provisions of the Nagaland Food & Security Rules 2016 under the National Food Security Act 2013.
According to the circular, Government servants, excluding certain categories such as contractual employees, fixed payees, casual labourers, daily wagers, anganwadi and ASHA workers, Home Guards, Community Health Volunteers, and Grade IV staff, are not eligible for PHH and AAY benefits. Individuals with an annual family income exceeding Rs 2.5 lakh also fall outside the eligibility criteria.
It further warned that non-compliance, if detected, will be dealt with as per provisions of the National Food Security Act.
The circular also provides an alternative for individuals with annual incomes above Rs 2.5 lakh. They may apply for General Household (GHH) ration cards instead. Application forms for GHH ration cards will be available at the office of the District Civil Supply Officer in Mokokchung and with PDC in-charge officials stationed at Tuli, Mangkolemba, Kubolong, Chuchuyimlang, Changtongya, Alongkima, and Longchem.
The notification was issued by N Jamonger Ao, District Civil Supply Officer, Mokokchung.
