The District Hub for Empowerment of Women (Mission Shakti) and District Administration Mokokchung conducted a one-day capacity-building session for women police personnel on 9 September 2025.
The session aimed to enhance their understanding and application of key women-centric legislations, including the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal) Act, and the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act.
The session focused on strengthening the legal knowledge and on-ground response capabilities of women police officers while handling relevant cases.
During the session, Advocate Chubarenla, Panel Lawyer from Mokokchung District Legal Services Authority, provided detailed insights into the statutory provisions of each act. She also highlighted challenges in implementation and shared practical approaches for more effective coordination between the police, legal aid authorities, and other stakeholders.
The program was chaired by Tajunginla, Specialist in Financial Literacy, and the welcome address was delivered by Moamenla Longkumer, District Mission Coordinator.
