Yung Aung, the leader of the NSCN-K (YA), has expressed “deep shock and anguish” at the “brutal and senseless” murder of Haiwang, Central Council Member (CCM) by armed assailants at Tizit village, Mon on the morning of 13 June 2024.
In a statement, on behalf of the entire NSCN/GPRN-K, Yung Aung condemned the “inhumane murder” of their unarmed member. Aung added that they will leave “no stone unturned” in finding the culprits of this barbaric act.
“Mr Haiwang is the son of Mr. Hatwang of Tizit village, Mon district, under Konyak Region. In his long and illustrious national career, he had served the nation faithfully to the best of his ability. Today, we salute and honour him for his selfless service to his nation,” added Yung Aung and conveyed his deep condolences to the bereaved family members.
Additionally, the NSCN-K (YA) through its MIP condemned the senseless and brutal murder.
The NSCN-K (YA) alleged that when the Nagas are looking forward towards peace and unity, some “unscrupulous group(s)” currently sheltered by the Government of India (GoI) are trying to upset and ruin the prevailing peaceful atmosphere among Nagas.
According to the NSCN, these group(s) are itching to reopen the ugly past without considering the future consequences despite the fact that NSCN/GPRN, under the leadership of Yung Aung, has ceased fighting within Nagas.
The statement from the MIP accused the group (s) of being on a “hunting spree” against the NSCN/GPRN in their attempt to gain favor from GoI “by waylaying, kidnapping and killing our members.”
“This unholy pursuit to hunt down their own brothers in connivance with the Indian agents is delusional and will be counterproductive,” stated the MIP.
Further, the MIP said, “For this particular group who consistently poke into our nose with your belligerent behaviour, we need to let you know that we take this seriously and we will not forget” and added that the concerned group will be solely held responsible for any untoward incident.
