In a landmark moment for the state’s sporting scene, the Nagaland Pickleball Association (NPA) successfully conducted its first-ever Pickleball Workshop on July 12, 2025, at Aiko Greens, Dimapur, in collaboration with the Indian Pickleball Association (IPA).
The free workshop was led by Dilip Mohanty, a certified PPR coach from the United States, whose experience and passion for the sport added immense value to the event. With no prior registration required, the evening saw an encouraging turnout of participants from diverse backgrounds and age groups — from curious beginners to local athletes eager to refine their skills.
“Pickleball is one of the fastest-growing sports in the world, and seeing the excitement and energy here in Nagaland gives us confidence that the sport has a bright future in the Northeast,” said Coach Mohanty.
The session, held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, focused on basic techniques, game strategies, and real-time play demonstrations — creating a strong lead-up to the 1st Nagaland Pickleball Open Tournament scheduled for July 13, 2025, at the same venue.
This initiative not only marked the beginning of structured pickleball coaching in the state but also brought together a budding community of players, enthusiasts, and supporters. The workshop has sparked interest in expanding the sport to more districts in the near future.
The NPA extends heartfelt thanks to all participants, supporters, and members of the press for helping shine a spotlight on this emerging sport in Nagaland.
