Nagaland students to get 25% fee exemption

Kohima, 5 December (MTNews): The Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN) solidified its collaboration with Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) through a simplified Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 5 December 2023. Building upon a previous agreement with Manipal University, this initiative aims to provide students from Nagaland enhanced opportunities for pursuing paramedical studies at MAHE.

Under the terms of the simplified MoU, students from Nagaland enrolling in any of the 22 predefined courses at MAHE are eligible for a 25% fee exemption within one month of admission. To claim this benefit, students can obtain a certificate from IDAN post-admission at MAHE, affirming their origin from Nagaland. The fee reduction will be applicable to MAHE’s general fee structure published annually.

The MoU allocates a total of 220 reserved seats for students from Nagaland, with MAHE notifying both students and IDAN as soon as these slots are filled, along with details published on the IDAN website for the convenience of students and parents. Furthermore, MAHE commits to assisting students in securing education loans, and the MoU includes provisions for exploring additional schemes based on the success of the initiative.

MAHE has communicated that the courses covered by the agreement are approved by the Governments of the United Kingdom and the European Union. Successful completion of these courses will require students to undergo separate examinations, opening doors to employment opportunities in the UK and other European countries.

Adding a personal touch to this collaboration, Dr Dziesebeinuo Khezie (PT), the best outgoing student of MAHE for the academic year 2022-23 and a native of Nagaland currently working at Putuonuo Hospital, conveyed her delight to engage with parents and students who may consider education at Manipal, to share her experience in the University.
