Nagaland will host an Indian Air Force (IAF) Agniveervayu recruitment rally in September 2026, marking the first such recruitment drive in the state in a decade.

The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by the Special Secretary (Home) on June 10 in Kohima, where officials from various departments discussed preparations for the rally.

Wing Commander A. Muralidharan, Commanding Officer of the Indian Air Force, informed the meeting that the rally would be open to both male and female candidates under the Agniveervayu (Non-Technical) category. He noted that youth from Nagaland and other Northeastern states have historically seen lower participation in IAF recruitment, partly due to limited awareness of available opportunities.

Highlighting the significance of the event, the officer said the IAF was returning to Nagaland for a recruitment rally after a gap of 10 years. He sought state government support for logistics, including accommodation for 5 to 7 officers and around 70 Warrant Officers and Senior Non-Commissioned Officers who will be involved in conducting the exercise.

The rally is tentatively scheduled to be held at the Nagaland Armed Police Training Centre (NAPTC), Chumoukedima, which was selected due to its existing infrastructure and logistical facilities.

To ensure smooth conduct of the recruitment process, various departments have been assigned responsibilities. The Health & Family Welfare Department will deploy a medical team led by two doctors, along with support staff and an ambulance. The School Education Department will provide four teachers to assist in document verification, while the Police Headquarters will appoint a nodal officer to coordinate with IAF authorities.

The Department of Information and Public Relations has been tasked with conducting a statewide publicity campaign through print, electronic, digital and social media platforms to maximise awareness and participation.

Officials also decided that the IAF would issue the recruitment notification, including eligibility criteria and qualification requirements, at least 45 days before the rally.
