Nagaland University hosts students from ICAR-IARI, Umiam, Meghalaya

A group of 20 B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture students from ICAR-IARI, Umiam, Meghalaya, accompanied by two teachers, visited the School of Agricultural Sciences, Nagaland University (SAS, NU), Medziphema Campus, as part of an educational tour.

During their visit, the students explored the College Library and the Education Museum on campus. They also visited the Insect Museum in the Department of Entomology, where they learned about the diverse world of insects, and the Disease Museum in the Department of Plant Pathology, which provided insight into plant diseases.

To enhance their practical knowledge, the students visited the All India Coordinated Research Project on honeybees and pollinators. They gained first-hand experience in the scientific methods of rearing honeybees and understanding the role of various pollinators in agriculture. The visit offered an opportunity for interactive learning and helped deepen their appreciation for innovative research and methods being pursued in the agricultural sector.

The field trip concluded with an interaction session with Prof. Dipak Sinha, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Medziphema Campus.

The visit was coordinated by Dr. Waluniba, Assistant Professor, Department of Entomology, and Dr. Lowrence Kithan, Scientist on Kharif Pulses, SAS, NU, Medziphema Campus.
