Nagaland University students complete National Skill Development Training in Biotechnology

Ten M.Sc. Biotechnology students from Nagaland University, accompanied by Prof. Pranav Kumar Prabhakar, Head of the Department of Biotechnology, have completed a two-week National Skill Development and Hands-on Training Programme on Quality Control of Biologicals at the National Institute of Biologicals under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The programme was held from March 9 to 20, 2026.


The students participated alongside peers from Mizoram University and gained practical knowledge in the quality control of biological products, an important area in healthcare and the biopharmaceutical sector. The training included lectures and laboratory sessions on Laboratory Quality Management Systems, Good Manufacturing Practices, biosafety guidelines, regulatory requirements, molecular diagnostics and recombinant DNA technology.

Participants also received hands-on training in vaccine and antisera testing, immunodiagnostics, in vivo bioassays, biochemical kit evaluation and bacterial endotoxin testing. Exposure to analytical techniques such as HPLC, UPLC, electrophoresis and cell culture was provided.

Nagaland University stated that the programme strengthened practical skills and supported industry-relevant learning.
