The Information and Publicity Cell of the Naga People’s Front (NPF), 60 Pungro-Kiphire Assembly Constituency, has defended the pace of development in the constituency, stating that the reconstruction of roads within Pungro Town has been delayed due to an ongoing land acquisition survey and assessment being carried out by the district administration.

The clarification came in response to a video circulated on social media in which Ms. Amongla Sangtam expressed concern over the condition of roads in Pungro and questioned the efforts of the state government and the area’s elected representative.

In a press statement, the NPF said the people of Pungro were aware of the developmental works undertaken under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio and through the efforts of Advisor and MLA S. Kiusumew Yimkhiung. It added that the state government has continued to focus on infrastructure development and the welfare of the constituency.

According to the party, a complete reconstruction of roads within Pungro Town has not been taken up as the district administration is currently conducting a land acquisition survey and assessment exercise.

The statement further said that minor road repairs have been carried out wherever necessary through the initiative of the Yimkhiung Youth Organisation (YYO) in collaboration with Likimro Enterprise and the Border Roads Organisation (BRO).

While acknowledging the public’s right to express opinions, the NPF urged individuals, particularly social media users, to verify facts and understand the practical challenges associated with development projects before making public statements.

The party said constructive criticism was welcome as it promoted accountability and good governance, but stressed that public discourse should remain responsible, factual and aimed at the collective progress of society.
