According to the notification issued by Election Commission Chairman Neizokhotuo Belho, “the process of counting of votes and declaration of results shall be completed on the same day. The election shall be held strictly for the posts as notified by the Election Commission for the tenure 2025–2027.”

The Commission also stated that to ensure a free, fair and transparent election, the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) has come into immediate effect from the date of issuance of the notification and is binding on all intending candidates and members of the federating units.

Among the key guidelines, the Commission said: “No candidate shall be a registered member of any political party.”

“Campaigning or canvassing by any political party in favour of a candidate is strictly prohibited.”

“Use of derogatory, defamatory/disparaging words, remarks or speeches against other candidates shall constitute a serious offence.”

“Use of social media platforms for maligning, criticising, exposing private affairs or sharing objectionable images/videos of other candidates is strictly prohibited.”

“Any attempt to influence voters by means of money, position, power or other inducements shall constitute a serious offence.”

It further added that electioneering or campaign activities during Conference sessions, organising public meetings, election processions or demonstrations, as well as soliciting votes by offering alcohol, intoxicants, or other inducements are strictly prohibited.
