Mokokchung, January 26 (MTNews) : “Ozü Atsü Project”, a brainchild of the Youth Department, MTBA, was started in the year 2020, as a lockdown project with the aim to create interest and discover the potential of kitchen gardening amongst the youths of Mokokchung Town Baptist Church.

Wapangnaro, one of the in-charge in the project said that because of inadequate space for a community kitchen garden, the A&B Youth Fellowship took due permission from the 23rd Battalion of the Assam Rifles and started this project on the land that was graciously allotted by the Commandant under their jurisdiction.
She added that it wasn’t an easy task making a garden out of a dump yard, but the hard work eventually paid off. “Our fellowship has harvested three seasons of bountiful veggies including radish, carrot, beans, green peas, corn, brinjal etc. The biggest being a 5.2 kg radish from this year’s harvest which was exhibited today at the Republic day exhibition”.
What started as a “Give it a try Project” during the lockdown proved to be a blessing in disguise for their youth fellowship. “It has taught us dignity of labour, given us more knowledge on the essence and know how’s of gardening and of organic produce,” she said.
A&B Youth Fellowship aims to plant and grow more in the coming years and give back to the society though the proceeds earned from this project.
