The Pathso Public Organisation (PPO) has strongly condemned remarks made by the MLA of the 57 Thonoknyu Assembly Constituency in his public address at Pathso Nokeng during the 30th Pathso Nokeng Public Organisation general session on January 3. The MLA had alleged that Rs 40 crore allocated for the construction of the Noklak-Panso road had been misappropriated with no visible progress.
The PPO said in a press release that, as a watchdog for the local community, it verified the MLA’s claim with the PWD (R&B) Noklak Division.
“However,, upon verification,, the concerned department has informed that it has no knowledge of any such fund being sanctioned for the development of Noklak-Panso road,” the PPO stated.
In response, the PPO described the MLA’s statements as “highly reprehensible and contemptuous of public office.”
“It is unbecoming and disgraceful for an elected representative to peddle such wild allegation on a public platform,” PPO said, and demanded that the claims be substantiated with documentary evidence by March 31, 2026, failing which legal proceedings will be initiated against the MLA as per the provision of law.
The matter was also taken up formally with the Chief Engineer, PWD (R&B), Kohima by the PPO. The department reiterated that no administrative approval or financial sanction for the Rs 40 crore project exists under any state or central scheme.
