What began 25 years ago as a humble act of Christmas kindness has found lasting form in a newly inaugurated prayer room at Dr Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital, Mokokchung, a gift from MMC Councillor Wabang Kichu to mark the silver jubilee of “Christmas with Patients.”

MMC Councillor Wabang Kichu and his family, along with Temsüchuba, SDO Civil, Mokokchung, Dr Ademla Tinu, Medical Superintendent, IMDH, and others, after the inauguration of the prayer room at IMDH Mokokchung on July 26.

Launched 25 years ago by Wabang Kichu, the “Christmas with Patients” initiative was conceived to bring comfort and joy to hospital patients during the Christmas season. The newly established prayer room, envisioned as an extension of that enduring spirit of compassion, is open to people of all faiths. The initiative marked its 25th edition on December 24 last year.

The prayer room, offering a quiet sanctuary for spiritual reflection and solace to patients, caregivers, and hospital staff, was made possible through generous contributions from friends, well-wishers, and the extended family of Wabang Kichu. Described as a “symbol of faith, hope, and togetherness,” the space aims to provide comfort and strength to anyone navigating illness or uncertainty.

“This room is not just a structure; it is a symbol of faith, hope and togetherness. It belongs to every patient who walks through the door and to every hand that helped make this possible,” said Wabang Kichu, who also expressed deep gratitude to all who have supported the “Christmas with Patients” initiative over the years.
