The Nagaland RMSA 2016 Batch Teachers’ Association (NRMSATA-2016) has served a final ultimatum to the state government, demanding immediate implementation of the Supreme Court verdict on scale pay, release of pending salaries and arrears, and recognition of service benefits.

Addressing the media in Kohima on Saturday, the association expressed deep concern over what it termed the state government’s “continued inaction” despite the matter being conclusively settled in their favour by both the Gauhati High Court, Kohima Bench (March 16, 2022), and the Supreme Court (May 20, 2025). The teachers said that their demand for pay parity and service recognition with RMSA 2010–2013 batch teachers remains unresolved.

Specifically, they are seeking implementation of the ROP 2017 scale pay of Rs 9,300–34,800 with grade pay of Rs 4,200, annual increments counted from 2016, and service benefits in line with the Office Memorandum dated March 29, 2017, which treats contractual or ad-hoc service followed by regularisation as public employment for all service benefits.

The association alleged that the government’s failure to act amounts to contempt of court and “absolute disregard for the dignity and rights of teachers who have faithfully served the state for nearly a decade.”

Issuing a deadline of August 25, the NRMSATA-2016 warned that it would begin a democratic agitation with a pen-down strike from August 26 if its demands are not fulfilled.
