The Royal Club Kohima (RCK) observed its 38th Raising Day on November 1 at Riiliezou, Kohima with K Kire, IPS Rtd DGP, Nagaland & 1st General Secretary, RCK as the main speaker.
Addressing the members, Kire dwelled on the genesis of the Club history and its contribution towards the growth of football in the state.
He recalled how the Club assisted the Kohima District Football Referees Association in the conduct of the then Senior Soccer League and subsequently the Club started organizing the All India Royal Gold Cup affiliated to All India Football Federation wherein, it witnessed the Participation of prominent football teams including Mohammedan Sporting Club, Jamshedpur Football Academy, Dempo Sporting Club, George Telegraph, FC Cochin, ARC etc.
He recalled that the Club with members drawn from all walks of life such as Doctor, Engineers, Architect, Academicians, contractors, Businessmen, social workers, politicians with its motto “ Service to all “ had rendered yeoman services like visitation on National Days, Tree Plantation, Kohima town Cleanliness, financial assistance to victims of natural calamities across India, organizing traditional Cart Race, Volley Ball, Wrestling, Inter-School football tournament & Debate Competition besides hosting the famous P.C Sarkar Magic show and construction of the Kohima Local Ground (Khuochiezie) gallery in record 45 days to aid the 125th Quasquicentennial Celebration of the arrival of Christianity in the state.
Vituohu Rame, the senior most Club member called upon the members to revive the Club to once again excel and regain the pristine image. The function was chaired by its Royal Club Kohima president Kesao Kesiezie who recalled the immense contribution of the past members during their prime time for which two-minute silence was also observed as a tribute to the past members.
Earlier, the day was also marked by singing session and special numbers, invocation by K Sekhose and vote of thanks by Atsuu Miachieo.
