The Nagaland Government Teachers’ Association (NGTA) has announced it will intensify its ongoing agitation, starting March 2 at Solidarity Park, Kohima, after earlier strikes and protests failed to yield results.

Representing the 2010 and 2013 batches of mainstreamed SSA and RMSA teachers, the NGTA has been demanding inclusion of certain salary components into the State Non-Development Expenditure. The association had earlier issued a seven-day ultimatum, conducted a two-day pen-down strike, and staged two days of peaceful democratic protest at the Directorate of School Education, but said these measures did not produce a response from authorities.

“The NGTA has, therefore, decided to escalate the protest from March 2,” it stated.
