Wins 10 Individual Titles and Secures Runners-Up Position in 10 Categories
The Li-Ning 45th Nagaland Inter-District and State Open Badminton Championship 2023 concluded with the Mokokchung team emerging as triumphant contenders. Led by a contingent of 33 players, the team showcased their exceptional skills and dedication, clinching 10 individual titles across various categories and securing runners-up positions in another 10 categories. The championship, which also served as the commemoration of the Nagaland Badminton Association’s Golden Jubilee, concluded Friday evening in Kohima.
In the team championship, the Mokokchung team claimed victory in the Junior Girls (U-19) category, displaying their collective strength and talent. Additionally, they secured the runners-up position in the Women’s Team championship, further highlighting their impressive performance throughout the tournament. The overall champions title, however, went to Peren.
The Li-Ning 45th Inter-District and State Open Badminton Championship 2023 received high praise from the Deputy Chief Minister, TR Zeliang, who served as the Special Guest at the finale of the event. Zeliang acknowledged the association for their significant contribution to the promotion of badminton sports in the state. He commended the organizers for providing a unique platform for young athletes from all corners of the state to showcase their talents, dedication, and potential.
The Deputy Chief Minister expressed his hope that the championship would inspire young players to reach their full potential, instilling in them a sense of ambition and desire to compete at the national and international levels. He urged all participants to aim higher and give their best effort, emphasizing the rewards that await those who dedicate themselves to the game.
Zeliang extended his congratulations to all the winners and champions and wished the budding players a bright and successful future.
Officials of the Mokokchung District Badminton Association expressed their excitement and said that the Mokokchung team is set to return home on Saturday.
