Minister for Higher Education and Tourism Temjen Imna Along on Thursday called for peace, prosperity and a return to cultural roots as he graced the inaugural program of the two-day Moatsü-cum-Mini Hornbill Festival at Longpayimsen Village in Mokokchung district.

Addressing the gathering, Along said that while Moatsü is traditionally observed as a festival seeking blessings for a bountiful harvest, it should also serve as an occasion for people to seek peace and prosperity for the land.

Emphasizing the importance of preserving identity, the Minister said that the fusion of faith and culture is indispensable.

He expressed concern that the present generation is gradually losing the culture of hard work and urged the people to return to their roots, drawing strength from their traditions and cultural heritage.

Calling for a renewed social vision, Along said festivals such as Moatsü should not merely remain celebratory events but become platforms for reflection, unity and collective progress.

Appreciating the people of Longpayimsen Village for organizing the festival, Along said the celebration should mark a new beginning with a new vision for the entire Tsürangkong Range.
