A two-day workshop on Inclusive Education and Psychological Well-Being, sponsored by the Department of Higher Education, Nagaland, was held at Mokokchung College of Teacher Education (MCTE), Yimyu, from March 18 to 19, 2026. The programme brought together educators, student teachers, practitioners, and teachers from inclusive schools for an engaging learning experience focused on inclusive, empathetic, and child-centered teaching practices. Sessions were interactive and activity-based, allowing participants to engage with inclusion and child psychology through practical experience.


The programme began with an address by Dr T Alemla Longkumer, Principal, MCTE, who introduced resource persons Kopele V Tepa and Themmungla Raman Longkumer. She highlighted the importance of fostering inclusive mindsets and promoting psychological well-being in educational spaces.

Day 1 focused on understanding disabilities and diverse learner needs. Tepa emphasized moving beyond sympathy towards meaningful inclusion. Raman Longkumer’s session, “Every Child, a Story in Progress,” encouraged educators to look beyond labels.

Day 2 focused on classroom application, including behaviour observation, mindful responses, and strategies such as the “sandwich approach” for parent communication. Tepa introduced Universal Design for Learning and inclusive examination practices.

The workshop concluded with participants gaining practical skills, reinforcing empathy and adaptability in teaching.
