Mokokchung, August 16 (MTNews): The Janata Dal United (JDU) Nagaland has stated that the UDA Government is only trying to delay the elections to the Urban Local bodiesULB)despite a clear direction from the Supreme Court of the country. Since Assembly elections are due by February 2023, it is very exigent that elections to ULB must be held within this year, JDU Nagaland general secretary Kitoho S Rotokha said in a statement.

On this issue, the JDU Nagaland said that it has made up its stand while demanding to the UDA to announce the schedule for the said elections. “However, since the present dispensation is unmoved, the JDU has decided to start a democratic process of agitation to demand for conduct of the ULB at the earliest,” the press release said.

It was informed that, for the first phase, the JDU will start a Poster Campaign commencing from 16th August 2022. In this regard, the JDU Nagaland has appealed to all conscious citizens of the State to cooperate “so as to compel the UDA Government to heed to the voice of the people whom they represent.”
