Amid the ongoing unrest in Manipur, the Naga People’s Front (NPF) Central, under the leadership of Secretary General, held a meeting with representatives of the United Naga Council (UNC) at the NPF Central Office in Kohima. According to an update received here from the party, the meeting focused on the challenges faced by the Naga community in Manipur and the role of the NPF in facilitating peace and resolution.

During the meeting, the UNC delegation highlighted “the various challenges faced by the Naga community in Manipur amidst the prolonged conflict between the Meitei and Kuki communities.” The UNC also “acknowledged and appreciated the efforts of the NPF in acting as a mediator to facilitate dialogue between the two groups to resolve their differences.

Reiterating its demand, the UNC called for “the rollback of the seven newly created districts in Manipur” and urged the NPF to support their cause, particularly given its role as part of the coalition government in that state. The UNC stressed, “the NPF’s active role during this critical period is of utmost importance.”

The UNC expressed its opinion that “the NPF’s continued engagement with the present government would be more effective in addressing the current crisis than withdrawing or remaining inactive.”
