The Minister of Culture and Minister of Tourism, Government of India, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, has extended warm greetings to Nagaland on the occasion of the 26th International Hornbill Festival 2025.

Shekhawat described the festival as a significant celebration of the identity and unity of Nagaland’s 17 major tribes. The minister acknowledged the state government’s efforts in developing the festival into a prominent cultural and tourism event that highlights the rich heritage and traditions of the Naga people while promoting economic growth and community-driven tourism.

Reflecting on his visit last year, he said, “The warmth of the Naga people, the vibrancy of the tribes, the music, the dances, and the cultural richness of Kisama made us feel truly connected to the spirit of Nagaland.”

He praised the leadership of Dr Neiphiu Rio and the efforts of Nagaland Tourism Minister Temjen Imna Along, noting that their commitment has transformed the festival into one of India’s most iconic cultural and tourism experiences. He also highlighted the festival’s expansion to multiple districts as a sign of inclusive growth and community-driven tourism. “The festival is not only a spectacular cultural showcase but also a strong catalyst for economic opportunity, tourism development, and global cultural exchange,” he added.

Congratulating the Government of Nagaland, the Tourism Department, and all participating tribes, Minister Shekhawat affirmed that the Hornbill Festival continues to strengthen India’s cultural identity and places Nagaland proudly on the world map. He concluded by extending his “heartfelt best wishes for a grand and successful celebration.”
