The Zelome Welfare Union Kohima (ZWUK) today celebrated its 25th anniversary at the SIRD Auditorium, Kohima, under the theme “Embracing Legacy, Envisioning Progress.”

Gracing the occasion as the special guest, Nagaland’s Minister for Power and Parliamentary Affairs, K. G. Kenye, expressed deep concern over the declining trend of certain good qualities and traditional virtues in modern society.

“We are fast losing something that our forefathers and ancestors closely associated with — honesty. We are losing our best virtues and character,” he lamented.

Describing honesty as the most valued virtue, Kenye stressed the need to re-cultivate reliability, integrity, and honesty.

ZWUK President Vipanyi Krome said, “This celebration speaks volumes about the resilience, unity, and vision of our people. It is not just a recognition of years gone by; it is a celebration of a journey born out of faith, sacrifice, and a shared dream.”

A new team of ZWUK for the tenure 2026–2027 was announced, with Revikrhu Zholia and Vipulu Domeh appointed as president and general secretary respectively, among others.
The programme was chaired by Daniel Domeh, while Neingulie Krome delivered the welcome address.

Zelome Village is a Poula-speaking Chakhesang community under Phek District. Presently, ZWUK comprises 56 households with a total population of 274 residing in Kohima town.
