Kohima, April 30 (MTNews): A special screening of the Prime Minister’s Mann Ki Baat 100th Episode was held at Raj Bhavan, Kohima on 30 April. Advisor, Information & Public Relations and Soil & Water Conservation, Imkong L Imchen graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi speaking on the 100th episode of Mann Ki Baat stated that the program has become a “unique festival of the goodness and positivity of the people of India and it celebrates people’s participation.” He said the program is an important medium of learning from others and it provides the solution for the Prime Minister to connect with the general populace.
On the occasion, Modi had telephonic conversations with people who have made immense contributions to the society. He said many talented people have reached the pinnacle of success due to their work.
In order to promote tourism, the Prime Minister called on the people to visit 15 tourist destinations, outside their own state, in the country. A message from Director General of UNESCO, Audrey Azoulay was also shared by Modi.
Modi stressed that significant changes can be brought through collective efforts. He added Mann Ki Baat has always moved forward with goodwill, service- orientation and duty-bound spirit.
Secretary to Governor, Rajesh Soundararajan, IAS read the Governor’s message on the occasion. In his message, Governor La Ganesan stated that the Prime Minister conducts Mann Ki Baat program every month with an objective of establishing a dialogue with the citizens of the country on issues of day-to-day governance. He said that the essence and conduct of the program reflects the cultural ethos and heritage of the country and reaches out to a wide spectrum of socially, economically and culturally diverse people.
The Governor said the program highlights stories of change makers from different parts of the country who work selflessly, which are otherwise missed out by the mainstream media. He highlighted an interaction of the Prime Minister with an NCC cadet from Nagaland during one such program. He also shared that the Prime Minister appreciated the Lidi Kro-u society, a group from Kohima Village, for their effort in preservation and propagation of the Naga traditional arts and crafts. He hoped that many more achievers from Nagaland will find mention in the programme in the future episodes.
Assistant Director, PIB, Sonukumar Singh Konjengbam, IIS delivered the welcome address while vote of thanks was proposed by DDE/ HOO, DDK, Kohima, B Srinivasa Rao.
In commemoration of the 100th episode of Prime Minister’s Mann Ki Baat, an exhibition was put up by the Central Bureau of Communication, Kohima depicting change makers mentioned in the program over the years. It may be mentioned that the first episode of Mann Ki Baat was aired on 3 October 2014.
