In the wake of a protest staged earlier today, the All-Nagaland Adhoc Teachers’ Group (ANATG) 2015 batch has formally written to the Chief Secretary, demanding the immediate regularization of 1,166 teachers under the High-Powered Committee (HPC) Agreement 2022.

Members of the All-Nagaland Adhoc Teachers’ Group (ANATG) 2015 batch hold banners during a protest demanding immediate regularization under the HPC Agreement 2022 in Kohima on Feb 6.

The post-protest letter, sent through the Commissioner & Secretary of School Education & SCERT, comes after meetings between ANATG representatives, department officials, and the Chairperson of the screening committee on February 4 and 5.

Following detailed deliberations with its general members, the ANATG core committee strongly urged the state government to act immediately, noting that the HPC Agreement had mandated the formation of a High Powered Committee within 15 days of the October 2022 agreement and the resolution of service regularization by December 2023 – deadlines that remain unfulfilled.

The group also assured that it would suspend further democratic protests depending on the department’s written response, expected at the earliest.

Speaking to MT, one of the protestors said that the general members are scheduled to gather tomorrow. The agitation will continue, but with tomorrow being a holiday and several top government officials out of town, the protest faces a temporary pause over the next two days. During the meeting, all members will deliberate on the next steps and plan how to proceed in the coming days.
